Children, women and the aged are the most affected. More than 26 million people do not know where their next meal will come from, and thousands of children are experiencing serious malnutrition that is causing health challenges and in a lot of cases leading to death.
The Nigerian Red Cross is helping by supporting families in affected states. About 5000 households have received cash support which has gone into supporting household needs such as food, medicine, shelter and in several cases, income-generating activities.
Households in seven states have so far been reached with aid, but a lot more still needs to be done. The Nigerian Red Cross is now expanding its operations to reach more people in 11 states where the number of acutely hungry people is on the rise.
While the Nigerian Red Cross has reached a lot of people, more needs to be done and your support is needed to help prevent a humanitarian disaster from happening.
You can support the Nigerian Red Cross to continue delivering support to beneficiaries through cash support, planting seeds, and nutritional support to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
