Mr. Mohammed Omer Mukhier-Abuzein the Regional Director for Africa of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), made a well-timed visit to Nigeria.
In his remarks, he noted that, he saw the 800,000 volunteers of the National Society as its strength. He said that the NRCS ought to be the right arm of the Nigerian Government in all things concerning Disasters, Emergency, Relief Efforts and Allied Matters.
He advised the National Society to key into the long term plans of the Nigerian Government especially with regards to climate change, stressing that there were available funds and grants which had been earmarked which the NRCS was yet to exploit.
