All roads lead to the Garden City as the International Committee of the Red Cross, organized a 3-Day Communication Workshop for Branch Communication Coordinators from the 18-20th of May, 2021. The event happened LIVE at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt.
The participants brought with them a vibe of good cheer and a deep curiosity to learn as 11 branch communication coordinators and 10 communication focal persons all immersed themselves in classes about Humanitarian Storytelling, Media Monitoring, Volunteer Media Management, Navigating the News Media, Dealing with Fake News, Healthcare in Danger, Safer Access, Archiving Media as well as the tasty cuisine and ambience of the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt.
Participants represented Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Rivers states. Of the 3 days earmarked for the workshop, 2 were used for Communication training while there was a one-day session on Safer Access sensitization.
Delivering the opening address, the Head of the Port Harcourt Sub Delegation of the ICRC, Joelle El Achkar urged participants to pay attention to the sessions in order to understand how to apply what they learnt in their duties.
